The Thief Roof Bar/Roof Grill

On Landgangen 1, 0252 Oslo

Great place in upscale Tjuvholmen (Thief Islet) in The Thief Hotel…..it is an outdoor Bar and so, open from Spring to mid-Fall.  Has great views of the harbor and very serviceable cocktails as well.  When I was there, I had cocktails and then went to the Roof Grill for dinner….great views and the food was top notch…pricy of course, but that is Oslo.  As you would expect, seafood was especially delectable.

Prindsen Hage

On Chr. Krohgs gate 15, Oslo

This is one of those places that you love to find….a place tucked in behind a building and without a local pro tip, you would never be there.  You walk through a few alleyways and behind a building and then, you feel like you are in someone’s backyard Biergarten…lawn and lounge chairs are scattered about randomly and people are just having a great time and enjoying a fairly large selection of beers and loving the music.  There is light fare as well that is very good but it is more about just the setting and the sounds of happy people enjoying what was, in my case, a splendid July afternoon.  I went here several times I liked it so much.

Mad Goat Taproom

On Mandalls gate 10, Oslo

Great vibe and interesting space….great selection of international and local beers and shuffleboard and darts to keep you entertained.  I like this place a lot and it had a real warm feel to it.

Mathallen Oslo

On Vulkan 5, Oslo

A new experience for Oslo and worth a visit.  Indoor restaurants and bars and a few specialty shops.  It is worth a visit.

Hotel  in Oslo

The Thief

On Landgangen 1, 0252 Oslo, Norway

I did not stay here and normally I don’t comment on places I have not personally stayed or dined but I did stay right next door in an Airbnb and did dine and drink at the hotel.  There is no better location and from everything I saw about this hotel, it is top notch and beautiful.
